Chakavak Media Gateway

Chakavak Media Gateway is a hardware device that converts telephone traffic into data packets. Chakavak Media Gateway converts media streams to various telecommunication technologies such as POTS, SS7, new generation networks (3G, 2.5G, 2G radio access networks) or PBX systems. Media gateways enable multimedia communications across packet networks through transport protocols such as Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and Internet Protocol (IP).
Media gateways are often controlled by a separate Media Gateway Controller that provides call control and signaling capabilities. The connection between media gateways and call agents is achieved using protocols such as MGCP, MEGACO (H.248), or SIP. New media gateways are often standalone units with dedicated call control and signaling and can act as wholly independent and intelligent SIP end-points.
